With its rare primeval forest ecosystem, pristine landscape and
unique historical and cultural values, Vu Quang National Park is expected to
become the 'capital' of ecotourism in the North Central region.
The People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has just issued Decision No.
1752/QD-UBND approving the Project "Ecotourism, resort, entertainment of Vu
Quang National Park, period 2025 - 2030".
The project aims to exploit the potential of landscape, biodiversity and
unique cultural and historical values ??of the border forest area to develop
sustainable ecotourism, while creating a legal basis to attract investment,
create jobs, increase income and awareness of forest protection for local
people.
The approval of the project for eco-tourism, resort and entertainment here
by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province not only marks a strategic
change for the border forest area, but also opens up opportunities for
sustainable development associated with nature conservation and improving
community livelihoods.
Located in the Vietnam - Laos border area, Vu Quang National Park is
considered by domestic and foreign experts to be one of the forests with the
highest biodiversity in Indochina.
The park currently manages more than 57,000 hectares of forests and forestry
land, including more than 52,700 hectares of special-use forests, including
ecosystems of evergreen closed forests, forests on rocky mountains and
flooded forests, creating a rich and rare resource.
The flora here has up to 1,616 species of useful plants, belonging to 202
families of vascular plants, many precious trees such as: Pomu, green Lim,
Hoang Dan, ancient dracontomelon...
The fauna is also particularly diverse with 6 classes, including 94 species
of mammals, 315 species of birds, 88 species of fish, 58 species of
reptiles, 33 species of amphibians and more than 300 species of butterflies.
This is also home to many endemic and rare animals such as: Saola,
large-antlered muntjac, brown-shanked douc langur, white-cheeked gibbon,
Truong Son striped rabbit, sun bear...
Not only having biological value, Vu Quang is also the land of historical
relics and pristine natural landscapes such as: Thang Day waterfall, Rao
Rong stream, Da Ban island, Rao Co peak, Ngan Truoi irrigation lake and Da
Han lake with dozens of large and small islands.
These are special advantages for developing eco-tourism products, high-end
resorts, adventure tourism, scientific research, environmental education and
spiritual cultural tourism.
According to the recently approved project, Ha Tinh will focus on developing
eco-tourism, resorts and entertainment at Vu Quang National Park in a
sustainable manner, harmonizing conservation and exploitation.
By 2030, the target is to attract at least 15,000 tourists per year, of
which international visitors account for about 8%. It is expected that the
rate of overnight guests will reach 30%, tourism revenue will reach at least
20 billion VND, of which the rental fee for the forest environment alone
will reach at least 500 million VND/year.
The project also expects to create regular jobs for about 500 workers,
including 100 direct workers and 400 indirect workers, along with training
in ecotourism expertise associated with community livelihoods.
Key tourist routes will be deployed including: exploring the botanical
garden; conquering Rao Co peak; journey to the thousand-year-old pomu
complex and Thang Day waterfall; visiting Phan Dinh Phung citadel and
ancient crocodile forest; exploring Da Ban island in the middle of Da Han
lake. Accompanying these are types and tourism products such as: resort,
sightseeing, scientific research, adventure - mountain climbing, seminars -
conferences, camping, yachting...
With a total investment of over VND 672 billion (of which over 97% is
socialized capital), the project expands cooperation opportunities for
domestic and foreign investors. The goal is to attract at least 5 investors
to associate or lease forest environments, develop high-end resorts and
eco-tourism associated with preserving landscapes and biodiversity.
The implementation of the project not only creates momentum for Ha Tinh
tourism but also contributes to affirming the position of Vu Quang National
Park - a "green treasure" waiting to be awakened, becoming a leading
ecological destination in the region.
Nguyen Sang Trang, Head of the Department of Environmental Education and
Tourism Services - Vu Quang National Park said that the recent decision to
approve the project "Ecotourism, resort, entertainment of Vu Quang National
Park" by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has "untied" Vu Quang
National Park after decades of nurturing tourism development in the middle
of the Truong Son mountain range.
According to Trang, since 2019, the Garden has had the idea of ??making an
eco-tourism project, but many "stuck" points on the Forestry Law,
sustainable forest management plan... have led to this idea remaining only
on paper.
Vu Quang National Park has conducted field surveys, developed project
outlines, and sent documents 3 times to request comments from departments,
branches, and local authorities.
"What is special is that the decision to approve the Project was signed on
the first day of operating the two-level government in the whole Ha Tinh
province, marking the realization of expectations, creating a breakthrough
in local tourism development in the new era," said Mr. Trang.
